Why go on FSU now, why not wait?

The first and best reason is that it is the right thing for the business. The brokerage community wants and needs more efficient and effective ways to train their growing sales force. Not only will the first manufacturers get a higher "share of mind" from the broker associate using the system; it will also create goodwill from the owners of those brokerages looking for the training.

It also prepares you sooner for the inevitable learning curve of using the Internet for training.  Rather learn how to use the Internet as a training tool now and reap the benefits sooner.

What are the next steps once we have agreed to go on the system?

Once you have signed our contract, then you simply need to pick a topic (s) and set up an appointment with our Instructional Developers.

Our Project Manager will take the collateral materials that you currently have, plus your ideas, and put it into a structure that can be used as an instructional aid on the Internet.

Foodservice University has included 16 hours of Instructional Development (time we think an average module will take) into the cost of your module. If you should need more time from them, it can be made available.

Once the course development is finished and after we have met an approval process from you, we will then have our technical development team put it in a form to be used on the Internet. At this time (after another approval process from you) your training module is ready for your brokers to use on-line.

What about the security of the information?
Only YOUR BROKERS and/or YOUR STAFF can get into your modules. This will be ensured through passwords. The passwords also ensure that only one rep will be able to take a given test. You will also be given passwords that will allow you to look at the results of your tests at either a given brokerage or as a sum in general.

Is Foodservice University only going to help train brokers and direct reps?
Our vision is to be the platform to help train the entire industry --- from the manufacturer and broker to the distributor and operator.  Our partners, Foodservice Educators, are currently working on standards for the Educational Foundation of the ACF (American Culinary Federation).

It’s my broker’s responsibility to train their own sales force. Why should I spend any more money to train them, when I have already spent on POS, Regional Managers, and Samples?

No question that training your broker sales force is important. While you can rely on the broker to do all of it, it is to your benefit to help them.  The broker community clearly feels it is a shared responsibility.

The manufacturers that are the most progressive in training their sales force with the most current methods, will have an edge on not just their direct competitors, but also on the other manufacturers that the brokers represent that compete for the time of the broker associate.

The quicker you can do this, the more impact it will have on your broker sales force.

What if the broker associates don’t take the course?
Because we have gone to the brokerage community first to make sure there was a need and to get their commitment.  Broker management continually ask their Manufacturer partners for product training for their Reps.

If I create a module, I want ALL my brokers on the system – but I don’t want to force them to use this, what should I do?

Of the major brokers we already have on this system, we will include almost every major manufacturer.  We agree that part of the attraction of FSU is that the broker has committed to it, because they believe that better trained people sell more.

FSU will make it easy for your brokers to get on the system by keeping the price  per rep affordable.  We will also actively work with them on the benefits of the system, and include testimonials from current broker subscribers to help incentivize them.

The bottom line is if you join, we will help do the selling and explaining so your brokers don’t feel they have been "strong armed" into a training program.

Not all brokerage associates have computers or access to the Internet at home, then what?

In surveys from our brokers we estimate that 80% of all associates have computers at home and most of those are connected to the Internet.  This percentage is growing every week.

For those reps that don’t have a computer, each broker is committing to have a computer at work that the associate can use to take the classes.

Can I use this system to help train my own people? If so, how much will it cost?
On-line training can help your direct reps as much as broker reps. we would be happy to set up a course for you.  In order to determine a price, we would need to know how many people you are training and what you would like on the system.  The price would also be affected by whether or not you had a system for brokers or not.
